Description

ARTIFACT:

Scarce early WWII, 1942 Type # 1 Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) Enlisted Woman cotton khaki summer visor cap by Betmar Hats. The khaki cap features a gilt grass hat badge that depicts and eagle standing to the side with wings open and head to the viewer's left, the same image is also featured on the plastic buttons on either side. The inside tag reads: "Cap, WAAC, Summer, Type # 1 Size 21-1/2 BETMAR HATS, INC. Cont. W-669 QM 24834 Dated Dec. 31, 1942 Stock No. 73 -C-64569 Phila, Q. M. Depot" and beneath are the initials: "ED" on the "INSPECTOR" signature line.

Approximately Size 21-1/2 Ear to Ear: 8"; Front to Back: 8"; Visor: 8" x 2-1/2"; Badge: 1-3/4" in diameter

Cotton khaki, gilt brass, vinyl, plastic

ITEM NOTES:

This is from a US Army WAAC collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJJX15 LBDEX9/15 SBEEX4/16

CONDITION:

8- (Very Fine&emdash;Excellent): The visor cap shows minor to moderate wear, mostly to the hat badge, and a small spot under the visor (See photo), much of the gilt details remain.
