ARTIFACT: This is a circa late 1970s wing 3rd issue for 25-29 years of service with United Air Lines. It shows a scarce, early usage of the managerial pilot wreath at bottom. The wreath, originally demonstrating longevity, at a later point has a diamond in it. This wing is probably from the beginning of the period where the lower wreath was used instead to denote managerial rank (as opposed to line or flying rank). By the gold issue (circa 1980), this usage appears firmly in place, placing this wing as circa late 1970s.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1970s.

SIZE: Approximately 15/16" in height and 3-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt and nickel-plated brass, enamel, diamond chips.

ATTACHMENT: Two posts with clutch-backs; screw and washer for logo.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an airline collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX12 LAIEX8/12 SAEJ10/14

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The wing shows only light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
