Description
This is a scarce early 1950's uniform badge for the Polish 1st Tadeusz Kosciuszko Infantry Division aka 1WDP. First organized in 1943, the group was part of the Soviet-led Polish Armed Forces, aka the Polish Forces in the East. The division's namesake was an 18th century Polish patriot who fought against the Russians and who also joined the American cause in the Revolutionary War. In 1955 the division became the 1st Warsaw Mechanized Division.
VINTAGE:Circa early 1950's.
SIZE:Approximately 1-11/16" in height x 1-7/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silver plated & enameled nickel alloy with brass lined plastic disc backing.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:None.
