ARTIFACT: This is a scarce circa 1941 (World War II) USS Marlin SS-205 celluloid launch button/badge. Marlin was an experimental submarine, launched January 29, 1941 at Portsmouth Navy Yard (Portsmouth, New Hampshire/Kittery, Maine). After service in the Atlantic Fleet she began training new escort vessels in antisubmarine warfare. She was decommissioned November 9, 1945.

VINTAGE: Circa 1941.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: PHILA. BADGE CO. PHILA. USA along edge.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII United States Navy launch badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEX14 LFJX5/14

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has light wear only.
