ARTIFACT:
This is a scarce 1960s United States Air Force 12th Strategic Missile Squadron jacket patch in a large size. The squadron was the 12th Bombardment Squadron from 1955 until its deactivation in June 1961, and then became the 12th Strategic Missile Squadron on September 22, 1961. This patch shows a knight's hand wielding a sword flanked by a lightning bolt and a branch against a backdrop of the globe and eleven stars.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1960s.
SIZE:
Approximately 4-7/8" in height and 3-9/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester/silk threads.
