Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a scarce hardcover copy of "Spearhead in the West: The Third Armored Division" with a dust jacket. The 3rd Armored Division, also known as "Spearhead", moved throughout the European Theatre to France, Belgium and Germany, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. The 3rd's commander, Major General Maurice Rose, was fatally shot by a German tank commander to whom he was preparing to surrender on March 31, 194 The first full page of the book is a memorial to the Major General. The book's dust jacket has some great color artwork and is very good condition. The book was printed in Germany in 1945 and has several black and white photographs, as well as black and white and also some one-color illustrations.

260 pages; approximately 10-1/8" in height and 8" in width and 1-1/8" in thickness.

Paper dust jacket, cloth-bound cover, paper.

This book is an official project of the Third Armored Division published under authority contained in Sec. V, ETOUSA Cir. 86, 25 Jun 1945 and mailed in accordance with the provisions of Postal Circular No. 38, Hq, U.S. Forces, European Theatre (Rear), 11 Oct 1945 (on last page).
