This is a scarce circa 1880s Boston, Massachusetts Special Police badge. It is in of the oval type of badge is numbered 424The border has some decorative scalloping and there are a few embellishments interspersed among the letters and numbering.
VINTAGE:Circa 1880's.
SIZE:Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:4248 on front.
