ARTIFACT: This is a scarce and beautiful United States Army officer's kepi from the Indian Wars era, as would have been worn by United States Army Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery Officers in the 1870s. It is a high quality piece in officer grade wool, leather trim and gilt brass, and has tin Staff Officer buttons. There are no signs of insignia ever having been mounted on the front.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870s.

SIZE: Approximate size 7.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool, leather, polished cotton suspension liner, lambskin sweatband.

ATTACHMENT: Chin strap.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-DB-50-VAACX12 LCIEX6/12 SCEJX7/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The kepi has some areas of light to medium wear on the interior, a few tiny moth bites and one small hole toward the back.
