Description
Scarce 1866 Civil War Service Medal from the City of Brooklyn, New York and was for a US Army recipient. The planchet is ornately designed and shows a soldier on the front with an oval beaded ring surrounding that reads: "PRESENT BY THE CITY OF BROOKLYN TO ONE OF ITS VETERANS" and is dated at the base: "1866". The medal is suspended from a light seafoam colored ribbon and a brass pinback with nice edge embellishments. The reverse of the medal shows the flag of the Boroughs of Brooklyn, a woman holding a Roman fasces and a scroll above her reads: "Een Draght Mackt Maght" in embossed lettering which translates to mean "In Unity there is Strength".

CONDITION:8+ (Excellent): The medal shows moderate wear, light soiling, much of the plated details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
