Description

ARTIFACT:

Rare WWII United States Navy Liberty Pass for USS Seattle, which started its life as an Armored Cruiser (CA-11). By WWII it was a Receiving Ship in New York Harbor. The yellow pass reads: "U. S. S. SEATTLE", "COMORA, S", "Rate BM 2(?)/e", the body of the card reads: "This entitles the bearer to leave ship on liberty when so authorized and to pass through navy yard gates. This card must be shown to O. O. D. when leaving, and must be deposited in box on quarterdeck upon return to ship. Use of this card for other than authorized liberty or by other than the person named is an offense" "LOSS OF THIS CARD WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION" and the bottom is signed by "J. M. SHEEHAN Lt. Cdr., U.S.N. Exec. Off.". Comora's Liberty Passes came along with two of his USN ID bracelets, see links below.
