Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare World War II unit history up through April 1, 1945 of the United States Army Air Forces 58th Fighter Group, 5th Air Force (including the 69th, 310th, 311th Fighter Squadrons). This copy belonged to M/Sgt Kenneth L. Tilton, and comes with some of his letters and newsletters pertaining to reunions of his group, the 69th Fighter Squadron (part of the 58th Fighter Group). The yearbook-style history is entitled "Memoirs of the 58th Fighter Group", and includes a unit roster and home addresses, as well write-ups on every officer. There are tons of nose art photographs and squadron insignia. Tilton is in the last photo down on the page shown under the book's title page (left front).

Published circa late/post-World War II.

SIZE:

268 pages including photograph and illustrations. Approximately 11-1/2" in height and 8-1/2" in width and 15/16" in thickness.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Embossed cloth-bound cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT:

Glued binding.

CONTENTS OF THIS BOOK HAVE BEEN EXAMINED AND APPROVED BY THE CHIEF MILITARY CENSOR, GHQ, SWPA, AND THE THEATER CENTER, HEADQUARTERS, USAFFE.
