Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare World War II unit history entitled "Tank Busters: The History of the 607th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Combat on the Western Front." The book was penned by a former member of the 607th, 1st Lieutenant Harold H. Eby. The front cover shows some graphics and reads "Tank Busters (Tank Buatera) 607 Tank Destroyer Battalion "Battle with the Jerries". Activated December 15, 1941, the 607th saw service in France before engaging in the Battle of Metz and pushing onward to other action in Germany. The book was published in Germany by Knorr & Hirth. It has a roster of all of the 607th's officers and men and a tipped-in map, as well as many black and white photographs.

VINTAGE:

Circa just after World War II (1945).

SIZE:

93 pages with black and white photographs and a fold-out map at the end; approximately 8-1/2" in height and 6" in width and 7/16" in thickness.

Embossed cloth cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT:

Glued binding.

PRINTED IN MUNICH OF BAVARIA BY KNORR & HIRTH, SENDLINGER STRASSE 80.

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The book shows some light wear and staining to the back cover and a small part of the cloth is missing at the end of the spine; light aging inside book with no rips, writing or stains.
