ARTIFACT: Rare WWII Japanese Officer Private Purchase Canteen. The painted aluminum canteen features a leather strap, steel buckle carrying harness. The original aluminum and cork stopper with an aluminum screw top cap/cup are intact and the top of the cork stopper reads: "ALUMINUM OSAKA". The lower (viewer's right) corner shows a red, painted letter: "S".

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Approximately Canteen: 8-3/8" x 6"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted aluminum, cork, leather, steel

ATTACHMENT: Steel buckle leather harness, screw top aluminum closure, cork stopper

MARKINGS: "ALUMINUM OSAKA", "S"

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Japanese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-KYB-CON-KKY-20-15 LADEX10/15 SLAAEX6/16 SeAFEX7/16

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The canteen shows moderate wear, mostly to paint on edges and the harness shows a small period repair, leather is soft and pliable, and the cork is in fine condition.
