ARTIFACT: This is a Rare World War I Imperial German Trench Art Iron Cross Ring from Copper Artillery Driving Band. Size 10 - 10.25

WWI German Artillery driving bands (often called rotating bands or Führungsring) were soft metal rings (typically copper, gilding metal, or zinc) located at the base of projectiles. They engaged with barrel rifling to impart spin for stabilization and acted as a gas seal to maximize propellant efficiency.

VINTAGE: WWI, Imperial German era.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS: Copper, enamel.
