ARTIFACT:

This is rare World War II United States Navy VB-89 (Bomber Squadron 89) squadron patch. VB-89 was part of the Pacific Fleet, and served aboard the USN aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV-36) from October 1944 until April 1946, and flew Vought FU4 Corsairs off her deck (photo credit: Wikimedia.com). The patch shows a boxing glove clutching a bomb and has been removed from a jacket.

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-13/16" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Wool felt embroidered in cotton/silk threads, muslin backing.

CONDITION:

7+ (Very Fine+): The patch shows some light wear and was removed from a uniform; a few tiny moth holes in the felt.
