Description
This is a rare sterling silver "Windproof Foxhole" lighter with its original directions by Dunhill of London. The lighter is activated by pulling up on the ball to expose a bit of the cloth wick and then rotating the wheel downward start ignition. This handy model was used by members of the Army and Navy, both in the trenches and ship-board.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Lighter: approximately 6-1/4" in length (including wick) and 13/16" in width; instructions are about 6" by 9".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver, cloth wick, paper instructions.
ATTACHMENT:Ball connected to wick via chain.
