ARTIFACT:

NOTE: All of these USN patches being listed on x000D consignment with consignor code CON-DSS come from the lifelong collection of a x000D retired Vietnam War USN Pilot who had close times with the Tailhook Association x000D and was able to obtain some very special and unique patches. We are proud to x000D have been given the opportunity to bring parts of this collection to market. We x000D will be listing 25 or so now, and hope to have another offering in April or x000D May.  :


What we have here is a Rare circa 1950 US Navy VC-3 Composite Squadron 3 Jacket Patch, embroidered on Twill. 
This unit was established as VC-3 on 20 May 1949, then reestablished as VF(AW)-3 on 1 July 1956, and finally disestablished on 2 May 1958. 
The VC-3 Insignia was approved 16 March 1950. VC-3 was the night fighter unit of the Fleet All-Weather Training unit. Its mission was to provide Night Attack Units to all Pacific Fleet Aircraft Carriers

Circa 1950.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-1/8" in height x 3-15/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered on Twill with silk/cotton threads.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto Flight Clothing.

CONDITION:

8+ (Excellent): Patch shows light wear and minor fraying on a couple of the edges.
