Rare 253rd Canadian Overseas Battalion Cap Badge

This is a rare 253rd Canadian Overseas Battalion (aka Queen's University Highlanders) cap badge. The badge is bedecked with maple leaves and thistles and reads QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY OVERSEAS HIGHLAND BATTALION 253 CANADA, showing a crest at center and a crown at top. Scottish-influenced Canadian battalions were sent overseas during World War I since all British regiments had been withdrawn from Canada by the beginning of the twentieth century.
