ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare 1963 "slim" Zippo lighter for the United States Navy ship USS Thresher (SSN-593). The USS Thresher was a nuclear submarine built at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1960 and lost off Cape Cod on April 10, 1963 during deep-diving tests. The lighter is has some painted details with the ship's logo.

VINTAGE: Circa 1963.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-3/16" width and 3/8" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Chrome-plated brass, painted details, nickel insert.

ATTACHMENT: Hinge.

MARKINGS: ZIPPO ® on bottom.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The lighter shows some light abrasions and some wear to the painted areas.
