ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1950s US Postal Service Post Office Department employee badge from Flushing (Queens), New York. Flushing is one of the original five towns in Queens County, New York, and was formally recognized as a town in 1683. Now it is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, as has been since 1898. The badge is numbered 778 and is on its original belt hanger.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: Badge: approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width; hanger: 4-5/16" by 2-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, enamel, leather.

ATTACHMENT: Screws with nuts, holes for hanging.

MARKINGS: 778

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge shows light to medium wear; hanger has some light wear and some spots of wear where badge touches it.
