Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare 1944 American Airlines stewardess wing dated and named to a Lila Agnes "Mickey" Docken. While a junior at the University of Missouri, she was selected to become a stewardess for American Airlines. She died on January 10, 1945 in a plane crash five miles north of Lockheed Air Terminal in Burbank, California. All 21 passengers were members of the armed forces; there were two other crew members.

Circa 1944.

SIZE:

About 2-1/4" in width by 9/16" in length.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated sterling with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with a drop-in locking catch.
