Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare circa 1930s Boston Police Captain Series #7 badge in the "clamshell" or sunburst radiator" style, with second type numbering on reverse. It looks to have possibly had only one re-plating sometime during its use. This badge style (Series #7) was used in the Massachusetts capital for just about 40 years, from 1920 until 195It is typical to find badges of this series with pin repairs and re-plating done during the period of use. The badge has the Seal of the City of Boston at center and is topped by the Arm of Miles Standish. It is numbered 1936 on reverse.

Circa 1930s.

SIZE:

Approximately 3-1/8" in height and 2-3/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical kick pin with forked locking catch.
