ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1920s United States Shipping Board (USSB) officer hat badge on an elasticized band. The Shipping Board, or War Shipping Board, was a regulatory agency in effect from January 1917 until March 1934. The badge is embroidered in gold bullion and silk thread and shows a large golden eagle above a red, white and blue shield.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s.

SIZE: Approximately 3-5/16" in height and 22-3/4" in total length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool felt embroidered in silk/bullion thread, elasticized cotton/nylon band.

ATTACHMENT: Elasticized band.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge/band have only light wear.
