Description
This is a circa 1920s employee badge by Whitehead & Hoag for Fairchild Airplane Manufacturing Corporation of Farmingdale, New York. Sherman Fairchild, the corporation's founder, was rejected by the Army for World War I service because of his poor health. Undaunted, he instead began building planes that would accommodate his technologically-advanced aerial cameras, which were accepted and purchased by the Army. The airplane manufacturing branch of Fairchild's venture had a Canadian subsidiary, Fairchild Aircraft Ltd. The badge is numbered 112 on the front.
