Description
This is a rare circa 1913 United States Life Saving Service Auxiliary (USLSSA) membership or donation lapel pin. The United States Lifesaving Service joined with the Revenue Cutter Service to become a part of the United States Coast Guard just two years after this pin was issued. The pin has a Chicago maker mark on reverse and a red painted cross at front center.
VINTAGE:Circa 1913.
SIZE:Approximately 13/16" in height and 3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, painted area.
ATTACHMENT:Lapel stud.
