ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1913 United States Life Saving Service Auxiliary (USLSSA) membership or donation lapel pin. The United States Lifesaving Service joined with the Revenue Cutter Service to become a part of the United States Coast Guard just two years after this pin was issued. The pin has a Chicago maker mark on reverse and a red painted cross at front center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1913.

SIZE: Approximately 13/16" in height and 3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, painted area.

ATTACHMENT: Lapel stud.

MARKINGS: CHILDS CHICAGO.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Life Saving Service collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEJX14 LABEX7/14 SeVAFJX5/17

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The pin has a small area of moderate wear and some of the paint has worn away.
