ARTIFACT: This is a 1917 donation or lapel pin by Robbins Company for "Hero Land", an Allied benefit bazaar put on at the Grand Central Palace in New York during the 1917 holiday season. With one floor turned into a grand ballroom and another into the markets of Baghdad, the Palace captivated about a quarter million visitors with its pageantry and events. The pin reads IMMUNITY HERO LAND and pictures Marianne, the emblem of France, outfitted for war and carrying a shield bearing a fasces. VINTAGE: Circa 1917.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in height and 1-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with "C" catch.

MARKINGS: ROBBINS CO. ATTLEBORO MASS.
