ARTIFACT:
This is a period facsimile of a scroll from Charles Lindbergh's nationwide Guggenheim Tour to promote interest in aviation shortly after his solo non-stop trans-atlantic flight. The tour, funded by Harry Guggenheim, lasted just over three months and covered 92 cities. Scrolls such as this copy were dropped over other communities in between. This is a facsimile made in the period for archival purposes by the city of Lebanon, New Hampshire. The Spirit of St. Louis dropped a scroll over that community on July 27, 1927. Lindbergh's tour locations and dates are provided at http://www.charleslindbergh.com/history/gugtour.asp.
