This is a handsome memorial plaque dedicated to World War II Lt. Joseph Benedict Maloney, 33rd Bomb Squadron, who was killed in action. The 33rd Bomb Squadron was part of the 22nd Bomb Group, which was attached to the 5th AF. They flew the first B-26 bombing mission of the war over Rabaul.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:About 8.5" wide by 9.5" high.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nice hardwood backing with brass plaque. Original WWII wings affixed to top of plaque.
ATTACHMENT:Hanging chain.
MARKINGS:None.
