Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a nice World War II distinctive insignia for the United States Army 30th Infantry Regiment made within the European Theatre of Operations. The DI is a crest with a broken chevron representing achievements of the 30th in the Battle of the Marne, and three stripes to remind the observer that the regiment had once been the 3rd Division. The boar's head at the top of the crest represents infiltration into Germany.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass with painted areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Two pairs of bendable brads/prongs.

MARKINGS:

None.

CONDITION:

6 (Fine+): The DI shows heavy wear and tarnish, and some of the painted areas have worn away.
