ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1940 sterling silver lapel pin from Panagra (Pan-American Grace Airways, a joint Pan-Am and Grace Shipping Company venture. The pin is in the shape of a "Clipper" ship. The "Clipper" style plane was popular in the 1930s and the crews even dressed in navy-like garb to bestow a feeling of safety in the passengers, who believed they were traveling in an airborne version of an ocean liner.

Circa 1940.

Approximately 5/16" x 13/16"
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Sterling silver, brass backing.
ATTACHMENT:
Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:
STERLING.
