Description
This is a circa World War II Nazi edelweiss hat badge as worn by the sailors of U-52U-542 went on her first war patrol in November 194She sank a British tanker on that patrol, and on her second war patrol in early 1943, an American ship. A few weeks later, all hands on board the U-boat were lost when the ship was bombed by a B-2The badge shows the national flower of Germany with a swastika at its center.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, painted details.
ATTACHMENT:Two bendable prongs.
