ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1890s planchet for the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812 in 14 karat gold. The society was begun in 1892 as a sorority for women with ancestors who served in either the military or civil service or materially aided the United States military from 1784-1815. The planchet is engraved on reverse with the member's name, and would have hung from the bottom of a larger medal. It is a blue enameled star reading U.S.D. 1812 that is set against an anchor.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Approximately 15/16" in height and 15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 14 karat gold with enameled areas.

MARKINGS: ANNIE M. AULL 4185 CALDWELL & CO. PAT'D. 8-11-90(?).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a societies and organizations collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Ebay VHX07 LBGEX12/11
