Description
This is a near mint, high-quality World War II German Panzer assault badge in a scarce bronze grade made by A.S. (please see "Markings" section below for details). The badge is an oval wreath of oak leaves framing a tank, with an eagle and swastika at its top.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze with brass & metal findings.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with "C" catch.
MARKINGS:A.S. maker's mark. The reverse is well marked with embossed, stylized, overlapping manufacturer's initials in a triangle: "AS", indicating manufacture by either Adolf Scholze of GrÂnwald or Adolf Schwerdt of Stuttgart. The debate continues..
