ARTIFACT:
This is a mint, still in the original box Korean War era United States Military Model 1949 wrist compass by Superior Magneto Corporation of New York. The photos shown of the compass are from another one that had been previously removed from its box. The box shows that the compass was packed for distribution in April 1953 but the compass itself is from March 1953.
VINTAGE:
Circa Korean War.
SIZE:
Main section of compass: approximately 2-3/8" in height and 1-5/8" in width; strap is adjustable measuring approximately 14" total.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plastic, cotton strap, cardboard box, tissue and cotton wrapping.
ATTACHMENT:
Strap with buckle, hinged cover on compass.
MARKINGS:
Stock infoÉ Model 1949É Superior Magneto Corp. Long Island City N.Y. Date Packed 4-53 on box; on reverse of compass.
