ARTIFACT:
This is a Lovely World War I Imperial German Gold Grade Wound Badge Cut Out Type which is equivalent to a Purple Heart. The silver version was awarded to enlistees wounded either three or four times during enemy interaction or who had suffered various other traumas such as the loss of a hand or foot, partial deafness or brain damage. The badge shows a helmet with two crossed swords behind it.
VINTAGE:
Circa WWI.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical T-style kick pin with C catch.
