Description
This is a circa late 1940s or early 1950s guard hat badge for the New York State Vocational Institution. Now known as Coxsackie Correctional Facility, a detention center for male youths aged 16 to 21, the Vocational Institution originally housed some older inmates who were trained for different occupations. The badge is numbered 112.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1940s to early 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-5/8" in height and 1-5/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with washer, stabilization teeth.
MARKINGS:112 on front.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The badge has some light to medium wear and tarnish; light gold plating has been polished off on front.
