Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa late 1930s Railway Express Agency (REA) Local Safety Committee member badge. REA was a conglomeration of smaller national express companies set up by the United States government in 1917, during World War I. The pin is in an uncommon construction: silk screen printed on a nickel background.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1938.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Silk screen printed on nickel background.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin on bar, drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

Pat. 2066969 on pin (circa 1938).
