This is a circa 1930s or 1940s Railway Express Agency (REA) hat badge #5547REA was a conglomeration of smaller national express companies set up by the United States government in 1917, during World War I.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s-1940s.
SIZE:About 1-15/16" in width by 2" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silver-plated brass with enamel accent and black painted numbers.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post.
MARKINGS:Three makers' marks around: BASTIAN BROS. CO. There may be more but the screw post is partially obscuring the marks.
