ARTIFACT:
This is a hardcover copy of "Aircraft Engines of the World 1946" by Paul H. Wilkinson. The book covers many engines from North America, Europe, Australia and the U.S.S.R in a two-page treatment with a black-and-white photograph facing a page of text. It also has several vintage advertisements from aircraft corporations. This volume is a revised version (4th edition) and has several black-and-white photographs and illustrations throughout. The book is inscribed on the first page by G. A. Hyland, most likely of the Westinghouse Aviation Gas Turbine (A.G.T.) Sales Division. If you are an advertisement buff, check out the changes between this Alvis ad and the one in the 1949 version of this book that we have listed for sale separately (see link below for information).
