Description
This is a huge World War I pennant for the United States Air Service 20th Aero Squadron, which came into existence in June 1917 and had a name change as soon afterward as March 192The pennant is in wool felt and decorated with the initials JGH, the number 20 and a winged "US" in felt, as well as a silk sewn-on American flag. Please keep in mind that some reflections show on the flag in the above photographs due to it being shrink-wrapped and are not flaws.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 45-1/2" in length and 14-5/8" in height (not including foam board) with two 4-1/4" long ties.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool felt, silk.
ATTACHMENT:Two ties.
MARKINGS:None.
ITEM NOTES:This item is shrink-wrapped to a piece of foam board and will be shipped unwrapped and folded without the foam board unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting. CONDITION:6+ (overall Fine-Very Fine-): The pennant shows only light wear and fading overall but the silk flag detail is ripped in several spots and fraying.
