This is an 1870s engineer badge from the Westerly, Rhode Island Steam Fire Engine Company No. The badge reads R.I. ONES, the company's nickname, and shows an ornate number one flanked by decorative flourishes at its center.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/4" length and 1-1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows light to medium wear and most of the painted lettering has worn away.
