ARTIFACT:
This is a uniform jacket belonging to World War II Major General William W. Eagles. The jacket includes the General's ribbon bars, bullion Major General Stars and two patchea German-made US Army Europe on the left shoulder, and a US made 45th Infantry Division on the right shoulder (for Past Service). There is also a binder with the Major General's biography and history of ownership/provenance of this uniform, along with two copies of period photographs and one of the general holding this jacket years later. General Eagles was a decorated infantry commander who led the 45th Infantry Division in the battle for the Anzio beachhead in Italy.
