ARTIFACT: This is a great World War I United States Navy recruitment poster showing a woman wearing a Chief Petty Officer hat and jacket. The poster is by Howard Chandler Christy, a combat artist/journalist in the Spanish-American War who later immortalized the "Christy Girl" type in his prolific artwork. The poster is in a smaller size (11" by 14"). The poster reads I WANT YOU FOR THE NAVY APPLY ANY RECRUITING STATION OR POSTMASTER.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I (1917).

SIZE: Approximately 11" in height by 14" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Paper.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: Howard Chandler Christy 1917; The Colorplate Engraving Company.

ITEM NOTES: This poster will be shipped unwrapped and rolled without the foam board, unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting.
