Great, old, large Rahway, New Jersey Special Police Badge, numbered Badge is nickel plated nickel with painted lettering that reads: SPECIAL POLICE 1 RAHWAY, N.J. Rahway Police appointed Special Policemen, known as 'Chancemen', until 194Special Police or 'Chancemen' worked part time for the police department and were eligible for appointment as regular police officers when vacancies occurred in the ranks.

Circa 1900's.

2-1/2" x 2 -1/4".

Nickel plated nickel and paint.
