ARTIFACT:
Great, old, large Rahway, New Jersey Special Police Badge, numbered 1. Badge is nickel plated nickel with painted lettering that reads: SPECIAL POLICE 1 RAHWAY, N.J. Rahway Police appointed Special Policemen, known as 'Chancemen', until 1942. Special Police or 'Chancemen' worked part time for the police department and were eligible for appointment as regular police officers when vacancies occurred in the ranks.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1900's.
SIZE:
2-1/2" x 2 -1/4".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Nickel plated nickel and paint.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical kick pin with tongue type C catch.
