ARTIFACT:

This is a Great Old 1880's Private Detective Badge from the Grannan Detective Bureau Company of Cincinnati Ohio.


Although the Bureau's home base was in Ohio, they were active all over the country, including the Wild West,  much like their rival the Pinkerton Agency. 

I have in my collection a Grannan badge that was found medal detecting in New Mexico! 

VINTAGE:

1880's.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/4" in height x 1-7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Nickel-plated nickel with painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical safety-style pin.
