Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great circa 1965 Japanese-made jacket patch from Kadena Air Base for the United States Air Force Young Tiger SAC (Strategic Air Command) Tanker Task Force. Air refueling, an increasingly crucial role in an intense long-distance war like the Vietnam conflict, was provided by the Tanker Task Force. The patch shows the Rudyard Kipling character Gunga Din running through the sky in the company of an aircraft.

Circa 1965.

SIZE:

Approximately 5" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads, muslin backing.
