Description

ARTIFACT:

Minty circa 1965 United States Air Force 602nd Fighter Squadron (Commando) Japanese-made jacket patch. The center shows an eagle with an automatic weapon in its talons and a dagger in its beak, below reads: "602ND FIGHTER SQUADRON │C│" in black embroidered lettering. The 602nd served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and earned five Presidential Unit Citations during the War, the first was given for participation in combat between July 1965 and June 196The Squadron also received both an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award With Combat "e;V"e; Device and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm in 1970 for participation in Vietnam Air Offensive, Phase II – IV, the Tet 69/Counteroffensive, Vietnam Summer-Fall 1969, and Vietnam Winter-Spring 1970 campaigns.

Approximately 3-1/2" in width x 4" in height.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Embroidered twill, cotton/polyester/cotton thread, gauze backing.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto Flight Clothing.
