Description

ARTIFACT: Great 1860's - 1870's German 1 liter, lidded stein from the Lowenbrau “Keller” in Munich. The lid features a griffin-like creature in nicely raised detail and surrounding it reads: “AKTIEN BRAUEREI ZUM LOWENBRAU MUNCHEN”. The stein reads: “LOWENBRAUKELLER MUNCHEN NO. 26714” in blue painted detail. Along the top of the stein it shows: “1L”

VINTAGE: Circa 1860's - 1870's

SIZE: Approximately 8-5/8” x 3-3/8” (4” bottom diameter); Lid: 3-5/8” in diameter

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Stoneware, pewter, paint

ATTACHMENT: Handle, hinged lid

MARKINGS: “1L”

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The stein shows minor to moderate wear, the handle shows a production flaw, pewter shows handsome color, overall excellent condition.
