Description
1860's - 1870's early example of 3rd Issue Baltimore, Maryland police badge. The large oval shaped badge shows The Battle Monument in the center in raised detail and surrounding it reads: "CITY POLICE 1797" in embossed detail. The outer edge of the badge is surrounded with points and encircled with a ring, the entire badge is one-piece made of white metal. This is the second style of the 3rd Issue badge, the first was two-piece construction with a brass outer ring and points.
