ARTIFACT: This is a Gorgeous Luxenberg pre-WWII US Army/AAF Colonel rank insignia, also known as "War Eagle." The eagles on these pins face in opposite directions and they each hold arrows in their talons. The pins produced during wartime had the heads of the eagles and arrows face the same way, to signify war, hence the name "War Eagle." The pins produced out of wartime had the heads of the eagles and arrows face in opposite directions

VINTAGE: Pre WWII

SIZE: Approximately 1-13/16" x 1-7/8" each

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver

ATTACHMENT: Sterling silver clutchback.

MARKINGS: Reverse: "LUXENBERG. STERLING.

Clutchback: "PATENT PENDING. STERLING.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a US Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJX15 LBDEX01/17

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): There is some heavy tarnish, but little wear on these pins.
